Refunds draw the most negative Trustpilot reviews of UK weight-loss providers
Refunds are the most negative subject in public Trustpilot reviews of 17 UK weight-loss providers, with 85.5% of refund topics negative (100 of 117), according to a Bolt Pharmacy analysis of 2,670 reviews.
Refunds made up 117 of the 3,682 topics tagged in the reviews, or 3.2%, and 100 of them were negative. Price was next: 125 of its 323 topics, or 38.7%, were negative.
The negative share was lower for every other subject: 122 of 628 clinical topics (19.4%), 65 of 406 results topics (16.0%), 194 of 1,273 support topics (15.2%) and 127 of 935 delivery topics (13.6%).
Support was the most common subject, at 1,273 topics or 34.6% of the total, followed by delivery at 935 topics or 25.4%. Clinical care (628 topics, 17.1%) and results (406 topics, 11.0%) together made up 28.1%. The results category counts reviews that mention outcomes. It is not a measure of how well any treatment works.
The analysis takes up to the 200 most recent Trustpilot reviews of each provider, so the figures are not weighted by review volume or market share. Most providers reached the 200 cap. Those with fewer reviews available contributed 96, 94, 47, 30 and 3, which is why the sample totals 2,670 rather than the maximum. The four largest contributors make up 30% of the sample. The reviews are dated from 1 September to 26 October 2026; 26 October is the cut-off date for the data, not a later publication date. Topics and their tone were assigned by automated text classification, not by human coders, and the classification is not a validated instrument. A review can carry several topics, so shares are of topics, not of people. The list of providers in the sample is available to journalists on request.
Bolt Pharmacy's own reviews are included on the same terms as every other provider's and are subject to the same cap. Bolt Pharmacy invites customers to leave reviews, which tends to skew its reviews towards satisfied customers. The analysis gives combined figures only and does not rank providers. As one of the providers in the sample, Bolt Pharmacy has a commercial interest in the findings.
The findings have limits. Trustpilot reviewers choose to post, often after an unusually good or bad experience, and some reviews are invited or moderated by companies, so they do not represent all patients. Reviewers can describe what they see, such as delivery, refunds and price, but cannot judge whether their treatment was clinically appropriate. Fewer reviews about clinical care should not be read as evidence that clinical risks are small.
Comment from Bolt Pharmacy
"Reviews are a fair guide to whether a provider answers messages, delivers on time and handles a refund properly. They tell you very little about whether treatment is clinically appropriate, and nobody should choose a provider on star ratings alone," said Phuong Nguyen, Superintendent Pharmacist at Bolt Pharmacy.
"Before paying for any weight-loss treatment, read the refund and cancellation terms, check the pharmacy is on the GPhC register, and never buy injections through social media. If you have side effects, speak to a clinician and report them through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme."
